They started off the day with a quick pedi-cab ride from the Soniat House down to Café du Monde for that famous New Orleans breakfast of beignets and café au lait. This was just the start of a day of New Orleans traditions–all beautifully documented by Matt Foster.
First things first: after starting off their day the New Orleans way, Brandi and David crossed the mighty Mississippi and picked up their marriage license at the (historic!) Gretna Court House.
The happiest day deserves the best food, so after they got their license, Brandi and David took in some more New Orleans culture at the famous Johnny’s Poboy Restaurant. Yum! They also got a nice walk through the French Quarter, taking in art galleries, musicians and even more culture.
After poboys, it was almost time. Our couple got ready in their own way: Brandi swept her hair up into an elegant twist (with accessories!) and applied her makeup, and David took a break for a relaxing massage.
We made our way back to Soniat House to get ready for the ceremony, which was held in a gorgeously romantic stone courtyard that fit perfectly with Brandi’s stunning lace gown.
What a dress!
Matt and I were lucky enough to be present at this intimate and lovely ceremony–and even more blessed to be their witnesses (a first for me)! We could feel Brandi and David’s joy.
After the ceremony and our champagne celebration, Brandi and David were whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage to a romantic dinner at the classic Bayona’s.
And the next day, we said our goodbyes as the happy couple departed for Spain.
It was a whirlwind journey, but it was a wonderful one. The day was lovely; the city was beautiful; and Brandi and David were so clearly in love. It was their perfect day in the perfect city–a day they’ll cherish forever.
